CHAPTER 322.
AN ACT to create a Maryland Water Front Commission and
prescribing its duties.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,, That a commission to be known as Maryland Water
Front Commission be and the same is hereby created.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted as aforesaid, That the
said Commission shall consist of five members, no more than
three belonging to the same political party, one member of
said Commission shall reside in Baltimore City, one member
on the Western Shore of Maryland, one in that district known
as Southern Maryland, one on the Eastern Shore of Maryland
and one person representing the State Roads Commission
without restriction as to residence. The members of said
Commission shall be appointed by the Governor, one for a
term of one year, one for a term of two years, one for a term
of three years and two for the term of four years, and their
successors shall be appointed for a term of six years or until
their successors are duly qualified. The term shall begin
July 1, 1929. The members first appointed shall be ap-
pointed on or before July 1, 1929. The members of said
Commission shall serve without salary. Any member of said
Commission may be removed from office by the Governor for
cause, but a reasonable opportunity shall be given the member
of the Commission to make his defense before such removal.
The Governor shall have the power to fill any vacancy oc-
curring on the Commission for the unexpired term.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted as aforesaid. That on
or before the 15th day of July, 1929, the said Commission
hereby created shall organize by electing one of its members
chairman and a secretary who may or may not be a member
of the Commission, both of whom shall hold office for a period
of one year or until their successors are elected, unless their
membership in said Commission sooner expires.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted as aforesaid, That the
duties of said Commission shall be as follows:
(a) To examine, investigate, and recommend to the Legis-
lature plans and policies for the protection of the waterfront
