said sale, the said Treasurer shall place said excess derived
from said sale to the Police Fund to be expended for the
maintenance of the Montgomery County Police.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1929.

CHAPTER 321.

AN ACT to add a. new section to Article 53 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Landlord and
Tenant, " sub-title "Distress for Rent, " said new section to
be known as Section 18A and to follow immediately after
Section 18 of said Article, providing for penalty for moving
goods under distraint.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 53 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition),
title "Landlord and Tenant, " sub-title "Distress for Rent, "
said new section to be known as Section 18A, to follow imme-
diately after Section 18 of said Article and to read as follows:

18A. Whenever goods, wares, chattels or merchandise shall
have been levied upon under a Warrant of Distraint by any
landlord or his agent or bailiff in accordance with the provi-
sions of this Article it shall be unlawful for the tenant or
tenants in and upon said premises or any other person or
persons other than the landlord distraining or his agent or
bailiff, to remove any of said goods, wares, chattels or merchan-
dise so distrained without the written consent of the said land-
lord, his agent or bailiff; and any such tenant or tenants, per-
son or persons so unlawfully removing any such goods, wares,
chattels or merchandise under distraint, without such written
permission as aforesaid, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and
shall be punishable by a fine of not less than $50. 00 nor more
than $500. 00, or by imprisonment of not less than thirty days
or more than three months or both at the discretion of the Court.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1929.
