179. There shall be appointed by the Governor, at the ses-
sion of the General Assembly of Maryland in the year
1929, two Justices of the Peace for each Election District in
Allegany County, who shall hold office for such term as is now
or may hereafter be provided by law; except that for Election
Districts Numbers 4, 5, 6, 14, 22, 23 and 29, in said Alle-
gany County, there shall be appointed two Justices of the
Peace and none other; said two Justices of the Peace, to be
Justices of the Peace at Large and to be known and styled
"The Peoples Court" and to be so appointed and possess the
qualifications, jurisdiction and powers as is hereinafter pro-
vided; and except that for Election Districts 8, 9, 10, 15, 18,
25 and 27 the provisions of subsequent sections of this Act
shall apply.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That five new sections
be and they are hereby added to Article 1 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Allegany County, " sub-
title "Justices of the Peace and Constables, " said new sections
to be known as Sections 179AAA to 179EEE, inclusive, to
follow immediately after Section 179AA of said Article, and
to read as follows:
179 A AA. There shall be appointed by the Governor in the
year 1929, subject to the confirmation of the Senate and there--
after in accordance with existing law, one Justice of the Peace
for Election Districts Numbers 18 and 27, which said one
Justice of the Peace so appointed shall be a Justice of the
Peace at Large for said two Election Districts and there shall
be none other appointed; said Justice so appointed shall re-
ceive an annual salary of Five Hundred Dollars, payable
monthly, by the County Commissioners of Allegany County,
which said salary shall be in lieu of criminal fees and costs,
all of which said criminal fees and costs, including costs in
motor vehicle cases shall be remitted to the Treasurer for
Allegany County each month; the civil jurisdiction of said
Justice shall be the same as provided in the Code of Maryland,
Article 52, Sections 5 to 11, except for that, in: all civil ac-
tions competent to be brought before said Justice, the civil
jurisdiction shall not exceed Two Hundred Dollars,
179BBB. There shall be appointed by the Governor as
aforesaid, one Justice of the Peace for Election Districts Num-
bers 10 and 15, which said Justice shall be a Justice of the
