section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
shall be fined twenty-five dollars ($25).

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1929.

CHAPTER 297.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commission-
ers of Montgomery County to levy annually upon the as-
sessable property of said county a tax sufficient to produce
annually the sum of not to exceed Ten Thousand ($10, -
000. 00) Dollars for charitable and social work in said coun-
ty, and to authorize and empower said County Commission-
ers to designate an agency or agencies to perform charitable
and social relief work in said county for and on behalf of
the County Commissioners.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Montgomery
County, be and they are hereby authorized and empowered
for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1929, and annually there-
after, to levy against the assessable property of the county a
tax sufficient to produce annually the sum of not to exceed
Ten Thousand Dollars ($10, 000. 00), for the purpose of ex-
tending relief to poor, indigent or ill persons, of caring for
and assisting in the care of neglected or improperly nourished
children and for general charitable and social relief purposes.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the County Com-
missioners are further authorized and empowered, in any year
in which the levy herein authorized shall be made, to desig-
nate such agent or agents as they may deem proper, to carry
out the purposes for which said levy is authorized, and are
further authorized and empowered to pay over to such desig-
nated agent or agents the sum or sums derived from said
levy.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1929.
