WHEREAS, by Chapter 139 of the Acts of the General As-
sembly of Maryland, passed at its January Session, 1920,
the Mayor and City Council of Laurel were authorized to
issue bonds in the total amount of Five Thousand Dollars
($5, 000. 00) for the purpose of improving Main Street, said
bonds to be payable five (5) years after date; and
WHEREAS, the said Mayor and City Council of Laurel did
inadvertently advertise for bids for bonds to be sold under the
provisions of said Act and running for thirty (30) years,
and did sell and deliver to the purchasers bonds maturing on
July 1st, 1951; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of Laurel desire
to have their acts in so issuing and delivering said bonds rat-
ified and the bonds themselves" approved and validated.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the acts of the Mayor and City Council of
Laurel in issuing bonds for the purposes authorized by Chap-
ter 139 of the Acts of 1920, which bonds mature on July
1st, 1951, instead of five (5) years after their date, be and
the same are hereby ratified and approved, and the said bonds
are declared to be the valid and binding obligations of said
Mayor and City Council of Laurel.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all of the acts and
things done by the Mayor and City Council of Laurel in
and about the issuance of said bonds, and the providing for
a sinking fund for the payment of the same at maturity and
for the payment of the interest thereon are hereby ratified
and approved, and shall have the same effect as if said Acts
of 1920, Chapter 139, had authorized said bonds to be issued
for thirty (30) years instead of five (5) years.
