1430 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

WHEREAS, the Department has very limited funds with
which to buy books and other equipment; and

WHEREAS, the Budget Bill contains an appropriation for
the purchase of five hundred (500) copies of the 1929 Supple-
ment to the Annotated Code of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, provision is made for publishing a new edition
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, all of these copies will not be needed for distri-
bution to the several State departments and officials; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Legislative Reference could
use copies of these volumes for exchange with similar depart-
ments in other States for their code or supplements thereto;
therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
State Librarian be and she is hereby requested and directed to
place at the disposal of the Executive of the Department of
Legislative Reference, fifty copies of the 1929 Supplement to
the Annotated Code of Maryland, and fifty sets of the new
edition of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, for
the use of said Department and for the purpose of exchange
for the codes and supplements of the several States.

Joint Resolution of the General Assembly of the State of
Maryland authorizing and directing the Governor to name
a Commission to be known as the Social Welfare Survey
Commission of the State of Maryland, to serve without pay,
to investigate and report in writing to the Governor upon
the social welfare needs of the State of Maryland, and the
extent to which the General Assembly has provided or
should provide for meeting those needs or for supplementing
the provisions made by privately supported social welfare
agencies, and to make recommendations concerning the par-
ticipation of the State through special legislation, or other
measures, if desirable.

WHEREAS, the State of Maryland has expressed its interest
in and a sense of responsibility for the social well being and
