of such general index; the excess cost, if any, to be paid by
the County Commissioners of Carroll County; and
WHEREAS, Through inadvertence said Act provided that all
of said reports should be indexed only from the year 1915,
when it was intended that the judgment dockets only should
be indexed from the year 1915, and all other records from
the beginning of such records; and
WHEREAS, By reason of the error in the preparation of the
said Chapter 647 of the Acts of 1927, the Clerk of the Cir-
cuit Court for Carroll County has not undertaken the work
of having said index made, and has not retained or applied
any of the excess fees of his office for said purpose, but has
paid the same over to the State Treasurer; now therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Chapter 647 of the
Acts of 1927, be and the same are hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Carroll County be, and he is hereby au-
thorized to make a general index, according to the most modern
and improved system now in vogue, of the Court and Magis-
trate Judgment Dockets from the year 1916 to the year 1930,
inclusive, and of the Land, Mortgage, Equity and other rec-
ords in his office, from the beginning of said records to the year
1930, inclusive.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Carroll County be and he is hereby author-
ized to let on contract the execution of the work of indexing
said records, as set forth in Section 2 hereof, subject to the
approval of the resident Judge of the Circuit Court for Car-
roll County.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the County Com-
missioners of Carroll County be, and they are hereby author-
ized and directed to levy upon the assessable property of said
county a sum sufficient to pay the costs of such indexing, and
the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Carroll County be, and he
is hereby authorized to apply the excess fees of his office for
the fiscal years ending September 30, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932,
1933, 1934 and 1935, after the payment of all the office ex-
penses and salaries of said Clerk and his deputies, or so much
thereof as may be necessary for that purpose, to the repayment
