1A, to provide for the appointment of an additional mem-
ber of the State Board of Health.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be, and the same is hereby
added to Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
Edition of 1924, title "Health, " sub-title "State Board of
Health, " said new section to follow Section 1 of said Article,
to be known as Section 1A, and to read as follows:
1A. In addition to the members of the State Board of
Health, for whose appointment provision is made by Section
1 of this Article, the Governor, with the advice and consent
of the Senate, shall appoint an experienced doctor of dental
surgery as a member of the said Board. The person so ap-
pointed by the Governor shall hold office for six (6) years,
and the term of office of the first appointee under this Act
shall begin on the first Monday of July, 1929, and shall ex-
pire on the first Monday of May, 1935.

CHAPTER 56.
AN ACT to authorize the Governor of Maryland to appoint a
Commission to investigate the subject of higher education in
this State, including therein the University Hospital, and
to recommend to the Governor and the Legislature of 1931
a general State plan or program with respect thereto cover-
ing such future period of years as the Commission deems
proper to provide for.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Governor of Maryland is authorized to
appoint a Commission of seven members, who shall serve with-
out pay, and which shall be known as the Maryland Commis-
sion on Higher Education. Any vacancies on said Commission
shall be filled by the Governor.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That it shall be the duty
of said Commission to recommend to the Governor of the State
and to the Legislature of 1931 what it considers should be the
