SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the municipal corporation, the Commissioners
of Thurmont, be and it is authorized and empowered to own in
its name, for the benefit of said municipal corporation and
to acquire said real estate either by gift or donation for
the purpose of creating and maintaining a Memorial Park?
dedicated to those residents of the Thurmont District, who gave
their services to the Nation during the World War; and when
said real estate has been so acquired by said municipal cor-
poration that the said real estate is to be deeded to said munici-
pal corporation in fee.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1929.

CHAPTER 393.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Chapter
101 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of
1927 and to provide for the payment by the County Com-
missioners of Allegany County, Maryland, to certain volun-
teer fire companies in Allegany County, Maryland, so long
as said fire companies remain incorporated bodies the sum
of Thirty-three Hundred ($3, 300. 00) Dollars annually for
their benefit and for certain purposes, and to levy said
amount on the assessable property of said county, and to
provide for the date on which said payment shall be made.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Chapter 101 of the Acts of the General Assem-
bly of Maryland of 1927 be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Allegany County
be and they are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to
pay the sum of Thirty-three Hundred ($3, 300. 00) Dollars an-
nually to the several volunteer fire companies so long as said
fire companies remain incorporated bodies, for their benefit, said
sum of money to be used by the respective fire companies for the
