in their opinion to carry out said purpose, and in the event
that the said County Commissioners are unable to agree with
the owner or owners of any land, so by them deemed necessary
to carry out the purposes of this Act, they are hereby author-
ized and empowered to proceed to condemn said land in the
manner provided by the laws of the State of Maryland.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1927.

CHAPTER 505.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 149
of Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of the State
of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County, " sub-title ''Cir-
cuit Court, " relating to the appointment and duties of Court
Stenographer and payment of same, and also providing
salary of said Stenographer and salary for the Clerk or
Stenographer to the Grand Jury.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland^ That Section 149 of Article 2 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of the State of Maryland, title "Anne
Arundel County, " under the sub-title "Circuit Court, " be and

the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments so
as to read as follows:

149. The Judges of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel
County are hereby authorized to appoint a Court Stenographer
and typist for said county, to serve for such time as may be
designated by the Court who shall be a sworn officer of the
Court. The Court Stenographer and typist so appointed shall
perform such duties as may be designated by the Court as said
Stenographer and typist and also to take full stenographic notes
of all testimony given in Equity causes, before any of the Stand-
ing Examiners of said Court and to transcribe and typewrite
said evidence to be filed in said cause, unless the Court shall
by its order direct or permit said testimony to be taken down
and transcribed by a Stenographer in a Solicitor's office, the
price to be paid for the work of taking testimony by private
