SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 31-A of Article 12 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Garrett County, " sub-
title "Court Crier, " as said section was enacted by Chapter
192 of the Acts of 1890, be and, it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments to read as follows:

31-A. That the County Commissioners of Garrett County
shall levy annually for the crier of the Circuit Court for said
county three dollars and fifty cents ($3. 50) per day for his
services as such crier, and the treasurer for said county shall
pay said crier at the close of each session of the court for his
services during said session.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1927.

Approved March 11, 1927.

CHAPTER 53.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 332
of Melvin's Code of Public Local Laws for Anne Arundel
County (1914), entitled "Sheriffs, " as the same was enacted
by Chapter 162 of the Acts of 1916.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 332 of Melvin's Code of Public Local
Laws for Anne Arundel County (1914), entitled "Sheriff, "
as the same was enacted by Chapter 162 of the Acts of 1916,
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

332. The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall receive
an annual salary of three thousand dollars, to be paid to him
in monthly instalments of two hundred and fifty dollars by
the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County, and
he shall be allowed sums, not exceeding in the aggregate five
thousand dollars for any one year, for all expenses of his
office, including clerical assistance, and necessary deputies to
assist him in the discharge of his duties, the said account for
office expenses and deputies to be paid monthly by the Coun-
