SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the rates, rents and charges for the use and ser-
vice of sewers, drains and water as determined and charged by
the Mayor and Council of Hagerstown are hereby declared to
be and made liens upon the property used or served by said
sewers, drains or water, and that the same shall be collected as
are municipal taxes.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1927.

CHAPTER 344.

AN ACT to repeal Section 92 of Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Public Education, "
sub-title "Teachers' Certificates, Salaries and Pensions, "
and to repeal Sections 93-113, both inclusive, of said Article
77, sub-title "Teachers' Retirement System, " and to enact
in lieu thereof 14 new sections under the sub-title "Teachers'
Retirement System, " to be known as Sections 92-105, both
inclusive, of said Article 77, establishing and creating the
Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Maryland, pro-

Adding for the creation of a Board of Trustees to manage and
operate said System, and providing for contributions from
teachers and appropriations by the State of Maryland for the
operation and maintenance of said System.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 92 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1924 edition), title "Public Education, " sub-title
"Teachers' Certificates, Salaries and Pensions, " and Sections 93-
113, both inclusive of said Article 77, sub-title "Teachers'
Retirement System, " be and they are hereby repealed, and that
14 new sections under the sub-title "Teachers' Retirement Sys-
tem, " to be known as Sections 92-105, both inclusive, of said
Article 77, be and they are hereby enacted, to read as follows:

92. Definitions

The following words and phrases as used in this sub-title
unless a different meaning is plainly required by the context
shall have the following meanings:

(1) "Retirement System" shall mean the Teachers' Retire-
ment System of the State of Maryland as defined in Section 93
of this article.
