CHAPTER 226.
AN ACT to repeal Sections 3, 6, 8, 9 and 30, of Chapter 14,
of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland for the
year 1904, providing for the collection of taxes in Wicomico
County and election of Treasurer, and to re-enact the same
with amendments, providing1 for the appointment of a Clerk
to the County Commissioners of said County and defining
his duties and the duties of the Treasurer.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 3, 6, 8, 9 and 30, of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, for the year 1904, providing for
the collection of taxes in Wicomico County and election of Treas-
urer, be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:
SEC. 3. That the said Treasurer, before he enters upon the
duties of his said office, shall take an oath before the Clerk of
the Circuit Court for Wicomico County that he will faithfully
perform. the duties of the same, and he shall also execute a bond
to the State of Maryland in the penalty of Fifty Thousand Dol-
lars for the faithful performance of his duties as Treasurer
which bond shall be paid for by the County Commission-
ers, and further conditioned that he shall well and truly ac-
count and be liable for any and all moneys coming into his pos-
session as Treasurer and collector of taxes for which he shall
be answerable by law, which bond shall be secured by a fidelity
or security company qualified to act as surety or guarantor
under the laws of the State of Maryland, and shall be approved
by the Judges of the Circuit Court of Wicomico County or a
majority of them, and thereafter be recorded in the office of the
Clerk of the Circuit Court for said County.
SEC. 6. The County Commissioners of Wicomico County
shall on or before the first day of July, 1927, appoint a Clerk to
the County Commissioners of said County, and, unless sooner
removed for cause, he shall hold his office until January 1, 1929,
and thereafter the said County Commissioners of Wicomico
County shall on or before the thirty-first day of December, 1928,
and every two years thereafter, appoint such Clerk, and, unless
sooner removed for cause, he shall hold his office for two years
from the first day of January next succeeding his appointment,
and shall receive an annual salary not to exceed Fifteen Hun-
dred Dollars, payable monthly by Wicomico County. The said
official shall perform all his duties and services now required by
law or which may hereafter be required of him by law, or which
