diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of
all of the members elected to each of the two Houses of the Gen-
eral Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its
passage.

CHAPTER 143.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Municipal Corporation,
the Commissioners of Church Hill, to borrow upon the faith
and credit of said Municipal Corporation, the sum of five
thousand dollars for the purpose of erecting and equipping a
building in the town of Church Hill to be used as a Fire
House for the Fire Company of said town; to execute the
promissory notes of said Municipal Corporation for a period
not exceeding ten years from June 1, 1927.
WHEREAS, there has been donated to the Municipal Corpor-
ation, the Commissioners of Church Hill, a lot in said town of
Church Hill upon which to erect a Fire Engine House; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Commissioner of Church
Hill to erect said building and to borrow the money on the
faith and credit of said Municipal Corporation for the purpose
of erecting and equipping said building; now therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the said Municipal Corporation, the Commissioners
of Church Hill be and it is hereby authorized and empowered
to borrow upon the faith and credit of said Municipal Corpor-
ation the sum of five thousand dollars, for the purpose of
erecting and equipping a building in the town of Church Hill
to be used as a house for the Fire Company of said town, and
to execute the promissory notes of said Municipal Corporation,
the Commissioners of Church Hill for the amount so borrowed.
Said notes shall be drawn in such amounts as the said Muni-
cipal Corporation shall in its discretion determine, but the
total amount of said promissory notes shall not exceed the
aforesaid sum of five thousand dollars and the said municipal
corporation, the Commissioners of Church Hill, is hereby auth-
orized and empowered, for and during a period not exceeding
ten years from and after the first day of June, 1927, to renew
the said promissory notes as they mature from time to time,
