CHAPTER 141.

AN ACT to repeal Section 196-E of Article 21 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Talbot County, " sub-
title "St. Michaels, " as enacted by Chapter 239 of the Acts of
1908 and as amended by 'Chapter 189 of the Acts of 1920.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 196 of Article 21 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Talbot County", sub-title "St.
Michaels", as enacted by Chapter 239 of the Acts of 1908, and
as amended by Chapter 189 of the Acts of 1920, be and the same
is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public safety and health, and being
passed upon a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all
members elected to each of the two Houses of the General As-
sembly, the same shall take effect from the date of passage.

Approved March 25, 1927.

CHAPTER 142.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 144
of Article 21 of the Code of Public Local Laws of the State
of Maryland, title "Talbot County, " sub-title "Oxford, "
authorizing an increase in the town tax levy.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 144 of Article 21 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of the State of Maryland, title "Talbot County, " sub-
title ''Oxford, " be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments, to read as follows:

144. They may levy and collect taxes in said town not ex-
ceeding in any year sixty-seven cents ($. 67) on the hun-
dred Dollars on the assessable property in said town, and shall,
once in three years, appoint an assessor, who shall, under oath
value and assess the property in said town in the same manner
and with like authority as County Assessors.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
