ALBERT C. RITCHIE, GOVERNOR. 1679

CORONER.

(Chapter 537)

House Bill No. 557 relates to appointment of a coroner in
Harford County.

Because of certain amendments, this bill contains provisions
which are inconsistent and would cause confusion in its admin-
istration. For this reason it will be vetoed.

STATE AUDITOR,

(Chapter 576)

Senate Bill No. 401 requires the State Auditor to audit
the books and accounts of County Treasurers, tax collections
and County Boards of Education.

Under the present law, the State Auditor audits the ac-
counts of all county officials who receive State revenues, and
this would require him to audit these accounts for county taxes
as well. It may be desirable for the State Auditor to do this
work, but it would necessitate the employment of several addi-
tional men, and there is no provision in the present budget for
the payment of their salaries and expenses. For this reason
the bill will be vetoed, and if the next Legislature considers it
desirable for the State Auditor to extend his work to county
receipts the necessary provision can then be made for expenses.

ADMINISTRATION.

(Chapter 594)

Senate Bill No. 378 relates to administration of estates in
Maryland.

This bill purports to amend a section of the Code which does
not exist, and there seems to be no particular need for it any-
how, and it will be vetoed.
