1668 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS, The problem of motor vehicle accidents and
losses has been a serious one for many years and has become
increasingly acute, as shown by the recent Annual Report of
the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles of the State of Maryland;
and
WHEREAS, The problem presented by the so-called "hit and
run" driver is a phase of this general question which has
proved most difficult to deal with, but has become a social
problem of manifest and vital importance to the people of the
State of Maryland; therefore be it
Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Governor of the State of Maryland be and he is hereby au-
thorized and empowered to name a commission of five (5)
members to serve without compensation, which commission
shall investigate and study the general problem of motor acci-
dents and losses including the special problem of the so-called
"hit and run" driver, and report the result of its findings with
recommendations, for appropriate legislation, if it so deter-
mined, to the Governor and the General Assembly of Mary-
land in January, 1929; and be it further
Resolved, That said Commission be designated the "Mary-
land Motor Vehicle Accidents Commission."
