BILLS PASSED BY THE 1927 LEGISLATURE AND

VETOED BY GOVERNOR RITCHIE AND HIS

REASONS IN EACH CASE FOR THE SAME.

THE TOTAL NUMBER OF BILLS VETOED IS 90.

(All of these bills, except the last one, were presented to the
Governor and vetoed by him after the adjourn-
ment of the Legislature.)

DUPLICATE BILLS.

Chapter 234, relating to the Purnell Act, is a duplicate of
Ch. 156.

Chapter 238, relating to fishing nets, is a duplicate of Ch.
206.

Chapter 551, relating to public passenger motor vehicles, is
a duplicate of Ch. 620.

Chapter 582, relating to the Uniform Stock Transfer Act, is
a duplicate of Ch. 376.

Chapter 586, relating to garages, is a duplicate of Ch. 363.

Each of these bills will be vetoed because its companion
measure has been signed.

NATIONAL GUARD.

(Chapter 41)

Senate Bill No. 124 changes the membership fees of hon-
orary members of the Maryland National Guard so as to make
the same not more than $10.00 per annum, instead of not less
than $10.00 per annum, as now provided by law.

The Adjutant General advises me that the Colonel of the
Fifth Infantry is so strongly of the opinion that the effect of
this measure would be injurious to the Fifth Regiment, that
he, the Adjutant General, has concluded to ask me not to ap-
