and not exceeding in any one year fifty cents on every one
hundred dollars worth of property, in said town. The levy
shall be made during the month of May of each year, or as
soon thereafter as possible, and all taxes so levied shall be
a lien on the property against which it is assessed from the
time the levy is made. The taxes so levied shall be due and
in arrears on the first day of October succeeding their levy;
provided that in the event the tax levied against any property
is not paid on or before the thirty-first day of December next
after the same shall become due, the Mayor and Town Council
shall have power to sell through the Treasurer the said prop-
erty for the taxes, and the Treasurer shall deliver to the
purchaser of said property a certificate of sale, which certifi-
cate shall entitle the purchaser to immediate possession of all
personal property and two years after said sale in the event
that said taxes, interest and penalties have not been paid,
the Treasurer shall give a good deed to the purchaser for
the real property purchased at said sale; provided, further,
that the tax sale hereunder shall be advertised in at least
one newspaper in Prince George's County and by posters
in at least three conspicuous public places in said town, and
the proceedings shall be analogous to that provided by law
for the sale of property for county taxes. All tax levies shall
be based upon, the State and County assessments. The town
may buy in property at tax sales for which there is no bidder
at an amount equal to thei taxes and penalties due thereon.
Property so bought by the town may by order of the Mayor
and Town Council be again advertised in the manner above
set out if it appears after the purchase of said property by
the town that there is a possible purchaser, but all sales must
be open to the public.

SEC. 17. The County Commissioners of Prince George's
County and the Board of Road Commissioners of said County
shall pay to the Mayor and Town Council of Maryland Park
or the Treasurer thereof three-fourths of all taxes collected for
roads and bridges levies on the property within the limits of
said town, and said money so paid shall be expended by the
Mayor and Town Council in the repair and improvements of
the streets and roads of said town, said payment to include
three-fourths of all taxes so paid on the levy of 1927 in the
event of a vote adopting this charter as provided herein car-
ries and this charter is adopted.
