1588 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 700

SEC. 3. That the officers of said town shall consist of a
Mayor, a Treasurer, and six Councilmen, and shall be elected
by the qualified voters of the town. Each officer shall be a
qualified voter of said town and shall have been a. resident
thereof for one year next prior to taking office. The Mayor and
Treasurer shall hold office for the term of two years and the
Councilmen shall hold office for a term of four years, three
being elected every two years. Each officer elected or appointed
shall hold office until his successor is elected or qualified.
But any officer may be removed for incompetency, neglect,
or malfeasance in office after proper hearing in the Circuit
Court of Prince George's County, except appointees of the
Mayor and Town Council, who may be removed after hearing
before the Mayor and Town Council. At the first general elec-
tion to be held under this charter, three Councilmen shall be
elected for four years, and three for two years. Before entering
upon the duties of his office, each officer shall take oath that he
will diligently and faithfully discharge the duties of his office
without favor, partiality or prejudice. Said oath may be taken
before any officer in Prince George's County qualified to take
acknowledgments, and shall be duly filed among the records
of said town. Before entering upon the duties of his office, the
Town Treasurer shall give bond payable to the Mayor and the
Town Council in.such penalty and with such security, as the
Mayor and Town Council may require, conditioned upon the
faithful performance of his duties.

SEC. 4. That on the first Monday of June, in 1927, and on
the first Monday of May every two years thereafter, an election
shall be held under this charter for the election of the Mayor,
Treasurer and Town Councilmen after notice printed in some
County newspaper or posted in three conspicuous places in the
town of Maryland Park for at least ten days before election.
All persons qualified to vote at the election on the first
Monday of June, 1927, and at all subsequent elections
shall be persons over twenty-one years of age who have
been residents of said town for one year and are duly
registered on the town poll books shall be entitled to vote, and
the Mayor and Town Council shall provide a poll book which
shall be open at all times for the registration votes, but no voter
shall be registered in said book unless he has been a resident
of said town for twelve months next preceding the registration.
Said poll book shall be kept by the Town Clerk. All elections
in said town shall be conducted by three judges and two clerks
