was expended for the purpose stated, with the understanding
that the General Assembly of Maryland would be requested,
at its January session, in the year 1927, to pass an Act author-
izing and directing the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Carroll
County to repay and refund to the said Board of County Com-
missioners of Carroll County, the said sum of Nine Hundred
and Ninety-nine Dollars out of the excess fees of his office,
after the payment of all the office expenses and salary of said
clerk and his deputies shall have been made; and
WHEREAS, The installation of a modern system of index-
ing the records, in said office, is necessary.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Carroll
County be and he is hereby authorized and directed to repay
and refund to the Board of County Commissioners of Carroll
County out of the excess fees of his office, after the payment of
all the office expenses and salaries of said clerk and his deputies
have been paid, the sum of Nine Hundred and ninety-nine
Dollars advanced by said Board of County Commissioners to
pay for the installation of filing cabinets in said office, and
expended for that purpose.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Carroll County be and he is hereby author-
ized to make a general index of the Land, Mortgage, Equity,
Judgment, Magistrate's Judgment, and other records of Car-
roll County in his office, from the beginning of said records in
the year 1915 in said county, to the year 1928, according to
the most improved system now in vogue.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Carroll County be and he is hereby author-
ized to let on contract the execution of the work of indexing
as aforementioned, as a whole, subject to the approval of the
resident Judge of the Circuit Court for Carroll County.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the cost of said
indexing be paid by the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Carroll
County out of the excess fees of his office for the fiscal years
ending September 30th, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932,
and 1933, after payment of all the office expenses and salaries
of said clerk and his deputies shall have been made and after
