SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.

CHAPTER 352.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 171-A
of Article 9 of. the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland.

tion was enacted by Chapter 100 of the Acts of 1920, fixing
the Sheriff's fees for serving writs of subpoena and sum-
mons and making arrests upon warrant.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 171-A of Article 9 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title, "Charles County, " sub-title.
"Sheriff, " as said section was enacted by Chapter 100 of the
Acts of 1920, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments, to read as follows:
171-A. The Sheriff of Charles County shall be allowed for
serving every writ of subpoena and for serving every summons
required to be served by him in the performance of his official
duties the sum of one dollar. He shall receive five ($5) dollars
for each arrest by him upon warrant.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of
laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be and they
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the immedi-
ate preservation of the public safety, and being passed upon a
yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.
