election then the retiring president and commissioners shall fill
said vacancies immediately after the election to be held as
aforesaid.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts, or parts
of Acts, inconsistent with the aforegoing Sections are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That before this Act shall
become effective The President and Commissioners of Port De-
posit shall submit the question of amending said Charter to the
qualified voters of said town at an election to be held on Mon-
day, October 6th, 1924, at a time and place to be designated by
said President and Commissioners, and notice of said election
shall be given by posting notices of said election in five of the
most public places at least ten days before said election.

The ballots shall be prepared by the said President and Com-
missioners of Port Deposit and shall have printed thereon the
words:

"For amendment of charter" with a blank square opposite
the right of said words and immediately thereunder shall be the
following words:

"Against amendment of charter" with a blank square oppo-
site said words.

And the voter shall indicate his choice by making a cross in
one of the said blank squares.

And the said President and Commissioners shall appoint the
necessary officers to conduct the election in the way and manner
herein provided.

And in the event that at such election the majority of votes
cast for or against the amendments to said charter shall be in
favor of amending said charter then this Act shall be of full
force and effect, but if a majority of the votes cast shall be
"Against the Amendment of Charter, " then this Act shall be
void and of no effect.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.
