of two (2) years from the date of their election or their suc-
cessors shall be chosen and qualified and before taking office
shall qualify by taking an oath before a Notary Public or Jus-
tice of the peace that they will faithfully and impartially dis-
charge the duties of their respective offices.

249. The ballots to be cast at the election to be held under
Section 248 shall be printed by the corporation of Port Deposit
and shall contain the name or names of the candidate or candi-
dates for president under the caption "For President'' and the
names of candidates for commissioners under the caption "For
Commissioners" and no person shall be eligible for either office
of president or commissioner unless he or she shall first file an
application with the clerk to the commissioners at least ten (10)
days before the date of the election and said application shall
be supported by petition signed by at least twenty-five (25)
of the qualified voters of said town. All ballots shall be marked
with the words "Official Ballot" and the Corporation of Port
Deposit shall print for the use of the voters a sufficient number
of ballots to meet the requirements of the same. The Corpora-
tion of Port Deposit shall appoint judges and clerks of the elec-
tion to be held under these sections and no ballot shall be count-
ed unless it be an official ballot and no ballot shall be deemed
or taken as an official ballot unless it shall contain the initials
of one of the clerks of the election. At the right of the names
of the candidate for each office there shall be provided a box
and in the same the voter shall indicate his choice for a presi-
dent or commissioners by making a cross therein; should there
be a group of candidates in any petition, for the office of presi-
dent and commissioners which shall contain the name of only
one person for president and only six (6) candidates for com-
missioners then and in that event the petitioners shall be en-
titled to have said names of said candidates printed in a separ-
ate column and apart from the other candidates for said offices:
and the corporation, upon request of any candidate, shall print
a reasonable number of sample or fac simile ballots and in such
color or colors as it shall deem necessary, but not In the color
of the official ballot to be printed.

250. If the president, or any of the commissioners, after they
are elected, shall refuse to qualify, or shall, after they have
qualified, die, resign, or remove from said town, or be otherwise
disqualified, then the vacancy in either of said offices shall be
filled by those remaining in office for the balance of the term;
and if there be a failure to fill any or all of the said offices at any
