to follow immediately after Section 77 of said Article, and to
read as follows:
77A. Any tax which has been imposed or which may here-
after be imposed upon dogs in the town of Manchester by any
ordinance of said town passed under the authority of Section
77 of this Article, shall be in lieu of all other licenses or taxes
whatsoever, and no other license or tax shall be imposed or
collected upon dogs in the town of Manchester, any other law
to the contrary notwithstanding.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.

CHAPTER 245.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 374
of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(Revised Edition of 1915), title "City of Baltimore, " sub-
title "Criers, Bailiffs, Watchmen and Stenographers, " as
said section was amended by Chapter 97 of the Acts of 1920,
so as to pension the bailiffs for the several courts of Balti-
more City.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 374 of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (Revised Edition of 1915), title "City of
Baltimore, " sub-title "Criers, Bailiffs, Watchmen and Stenog-
raphers, " as said section was amended by Chapter 97 of the
Acts of 1920, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:
374. The City Register shall pay to the bailiffs respectively
of the Superior Court of Baltimore City, of the Court of Com-
mon Pleas of Baltimore City, of the Baltimore City Court, of
the Circuit Court of Baltimore City, of the Circuit Court No.
2 of Baltimore City and of the Criminal Court of Baltimore
City the sum of two thousand dollars per annum as and for
their respective salaries at the same time and in the same
manner as is provided in the preceding section for the payment
of the salaries of the crier of the Superior Court, the crier of
the Baltimore City Court and the crier of the Court of Com-
mon Pleas of Baltimore City. Every bailiff, who after having
served not less than twenty-five preceding consecutive years or
