SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Sections 107 and
108 of Article 24 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-

land (Staton's Edition), title, ''Worcester County, " sub-title,
"Fines, " be and they are hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1. 1924.

Approved April 9, 1924.

CHAPTER 240.

AN ACT to provide for the payment of a pension to William
Lancaster by the Police Commissioner of Baltimore City
out of the Special Fund.

CHAPTER 241.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 7 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland, title, "Carroll County, " sub-
title, "County Commissioners, " to be known as Section 22B,
and to follow immediately after Section 22A of said Ar-
ticle, authorizing and directing the County Commissioners
of Carroll County to levy and collect taxes and appropri-
ate money for the support and operation of volunteer fire
companies in Carroll County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title, "Car-
roll County, " sub-title, "County Commissioners, " to be known
as Section 22B, to follow immediately after Section 22A of
said Article, and to read as follows:

22B. That the County Commissioners of Carroll County
shall annually levy and collect from the assessable property
in "Carroll County, as other county taxes are levied and col-
lected, the sum of eight thousand dollars, which sum of money
the said County Commissioners shall distribute and pay to the
several volunteer fire companies in said county for the sup-
port, maintenance, equipment and operation of said volunteer
fire companies for the purpose of suppressing fires in said
county; and that said sum of money shall be proportioned and
