CHAPTER 142.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 4C
of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title
"Revenue and Taxes, " sub-title "Exemptions, " as said sec-
tion was enacted by Chapter 428 of the Acts of 1920, ex-
empting property of the Disabled American Veterans of the
World War, The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United
States, and the American Legion from taxation.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 4C of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, title "Revenue and Taxes, " sub-title "Exemptions, "
as said Section was enacted by Chapter 428 of the Acts of
1920, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
4C. For the year 1924 and thereafter, all property whatso-
ever, real or personal, and the rents, issues, and income thereof,
owned or acquired by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the
United States, chartered by special Act of Congress, The
American Legion, a body corporate chartered by an Act of
Congress of the United States, approved the 16th day of Sep-
tember, 1919, and the Disabled American Veterans of the
World War, an organization chartered by the State of Ohio
in 1921, or any department, state or local unit, chapter, branch
or post, of said organizations, incorporated or unincorporated,
shall be exempt from State, county and municipal taxation;
provided such property is used exclusively for homes, clubs,
asylums, hospitals and burying grounds of the said Organizza-
tions, and the maintenance thereof.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.

CHAPTER 143.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 12 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Garrett County, "
sub-title "Oakland, " said new section to be known as Section
170½ and to follow immediately after Section 170 of said
Article requiring registration and providing facilities for
accomplishing the same.
