288 LAWS or MARYLAND. [CH. 131

CHAPTER 131.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Section 336
and Section 337 of Melvin's Code of Public Local Laws for
Anne Arundel County, title, "State's Attorney", as the
same was enacted by Section 2 and Section 3 of Chapter
452 of the Acts of 1902; providing for salary of State's
Attorney, and to add three new sections thereto, to be
known as Sections 337a, 337b and 337c, providing addi-
tional power and authority to the State's Attorney of said
county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 336 and Section 337 of Melvin's Code of
Public Local Laws for Anne Arundel County, as the same was
enacted by Section 2 and Section 3 of Chapter 452 of the Acts
of 1902, providing for salary of the State's Attorney for Anne
Arundel County, be and the same are hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments, and that three additional sections,
to be known as Sections 337a, 337b and 337c, be and the same
are hereby enacted and added to the Code of Public Local Laws,
title, "Anne Arundel County", sub-title, "State's Attorney":
providing additional power and authority to. the said State's
Attorney, to read as follows:

SEC. 336. That the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County shall pay to the State's Attorney of said county, an an-
nual salary of twenty-five hundred dollars, payable monthly:
and it shall be unlawful for the State's Attorney to receive,
or the said County Commissioners to pay him any other or
further compensation, salary or fee of any kind whatsoever,
except as hereinafter provided.

SEC. 337. That it shall be the duty of the sheriff to collect
and pay over to the County Commissioners quarterly, any ap-
pearance fee taxed, as part of the costs, payable to the State's
Attorney, in any criminal case; and the County Commissioners
shall allow the State's Attorney for office rent, clerical help
and other expenses of his office, an amount not exceeding six
hundred dollars per year, out of the said fees paid over to
them by the sheriff.

SEC. 337a. That authority be vested in the State's Attorney
for Anne Arundel County, whenever, in his discretion, it will
be to the interest of the public, to order, with the approval of
the Court, the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel
