the plaintiff, or his attorney, renew the summons for such
defendant and make the same returnable on the next suc-
ceeding return day, or the first day of the term next succeed-
ing, whichever shall first occur.

32. Whenever there shall have been filed with a declara-
tion a bond, bill of exchange, promissory note or other writing
or account the Clerk of the Circuit Court shall have authority,
upon request of the plaintiff or his attorney, to return to the
plaintiff or his attorney the said bond, bill of exchange,
promissory note or other writing or account, provided the
plaintiff or his -attorney shall file with the clerk, in place and
stead thereof, a copy thereof.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.

CHAPTER 16.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners
of Anne Arundel County to grant compensation to F. Asbury
Griffith for money expended by him for work and labor done
on sewer in Glenburnie, Fifth Election District of Anne
Arundel County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
be, and they are hereby authorized and empowered to compen-
sate F. Asbury Griffith for work and labor done on sewer in
Glenburnie, Fifth Election District of Anne Arundel County,
said compensation not to exceed two hundred thirty-six dollars
and seventy-five cents ($236. 75).

SEC. 2 And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the first day of June, 1924.

Approved March 5, 1924.

CHAPTER 17.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 16- of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery County, "
sub-title "Almshouse, " as amended by Chapter 262 of the
Acts of 1922, said new section to be known as Section 25A
and to follow immediately after Section 25 of said Article,
