1520 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS, The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company pro-
poses to hold a Centennial Celebration in the City of Balti-
more, at a proper time to be determined later, during the year
1927, commemorating the one hundredth anniversary of the or-
ganization of that Company; and
WHEREAS, It is fitting that the State of Maryland give proper
recognition to the Centennial Celebration of the historic inci-
dents connected with the origin of the first railroad system in
this country which virtually inaugurated a method of trans-
portation vital not only to the State but the country as well,
and which has developed and expanded into a railroad mileage
aggregating more than two hundred and fifty thousand miles in
the United States, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Governor be, and he is hereby authorized and empowered to
appoint a commission of seven members, to serve without com-
pensation from the State of Maryland, to be known as "The
Baltimore and Ohio Centennial Commission, " whose authority
and duty shall be to co-operate with the Baltimore and Ohio
Railroad Company, the City of Baltimore, and with any civic
or commercial organization that may desire to participate in
arranging for and conducting a centennial celebration of the
events hereinbefore referred to.

JOINT RESOLUTION requesting Congress to enact legislation
providing for retirement of disabled emergency officers of
the Army.
WHEREAS, The Congress of the United States has enacted
legislation providing for the retirement of disabled officers
of the regular Army, Navy and Marine Corps, and the tem-
porary officers of the Navy and Marine Corps; and
WHEREAS, In the opinion of this Assembly, emergency offi-
cers of the Army are equally deserving of the benefits of such
legislation; now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Congress of the United States be and it is hereby requested
to enact legislation which will provide for the retirement of
disabled emergency officers of the Army, similar to the legisla-
