NO. 13.
Requesting the Public Service Commission of Maryland to
investigate the need for a north and south street car line west
of Poplar Grove Street, in Baltimore City, and authorizing
said Commission to issue and enforce an order directing the
United Railways and Electric Company of Baltimore City
to construct and operate such line, if the investigation shows
a need for same.
WHEREAS, The lack of a north and south street car line west
of Poplar Grove Street is a great inconvenience to the people
in northwestern, western and southwestern sections of the city,
and to many people in other sections of the city; therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Public Service Commission of Maryland be and it is hereby
requested to make a thorough survey and investigation of the
need for a north and south street car line west of Poplar Grove
Street, Baltimore City; and be it further
Resolved, That, if the survey and investigation show a
real need for such a car line, the said Public Service Commis-
sion be and it is hereby requested to exercise its authority
to secure for the residents of this portion of Baltimore City
such transportation facilities as the Commission shall find to
be justified and warranted by the circumstances.

NO. 14.
Authorizing the Governor to appoint a commission to co-operate
with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company in holding
a centennial celebration in the City of Baltimore.
WHEREAS, The State of Maryland having granted on Febru-
ary 28, 1827; the first railroad charter in the United States to
the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company for the carrying on
of a general freight and passenger business; and
WHEREAS, After preliminary engineering work, the actual
construction of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was com-
menced on July 4, 1828, at which time appropriate exercises
were held, the "First Stone" having been laid by Charles Car-
roll of Carrollton, an eminent citizen of Maryland, and the last
surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence; and
