NO. 10.

Relating to equalization of freight rates.

WHEREAS, It is believed that the farmers of Maryland are
enduring disproportionate freight rates for agricultural prod-
ucts for so-called short hauls by transportation agencies oper-
ating within the State of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, These rates has a disproportionate relation to the
prices of such commodities, and there should be immediate
reductions in transportation rates applied to farm products OR
short hauls to our consuming markets; and

WHEREAS, In many eases the rates applied to different agri-
cultural commodities have no relation to relative values or ex-
isting or prospective conditions and there is great need for
a reclassification of commodities; therefore,

Be it hereby enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a Commission of five be and the same is hereby created
for the purpose of co-operating with the Public Service Com-
mission to reclassify commodities and adjust freight rates on
short hauls within the State of Maryland.

And be it further enacted, That the members of said Com-
mission shall be named by the Governor and shall serve with-
out compensation for one year from the date of their appoint-
ment.

And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

NO. 11.

Requesting the Representatives from Maryland in the Congress
of the United States to support the bill for adjusting the
compensation of postal employees.

WHEREAS, A bill (H. R. 41231), known as the Kelly Bill,
is now pending in the Congress of the United States to re-
adjust the compensation of employees in the United States
Postal Service; and

WHEREAS,, We believe that the employees in the United
States Postal Service are justly entitled to the compensation
provided for in said bill; therefore, be it
