of five hundred dollars annually as an expense account in
addition to the salary of said Police Justice.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 12-A of Chapter 518 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January Session,
1922, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments so as to read as follows:

Section 12-A. Be it enacted, That the County Commis-
sioners of Montgomery County shall appoint some suitable
person as Clerk of the Police Court for Montgomery County
at a. salary not to exceed the sum of fifteen hundred dollars per
annum, payable monthly, by the County Commissioners. That
the term of office of the Clerk of the Police Court shall be for
four (4) years, beginning on the first Tuesday in May, in the
year 1922, and ending four (4) years* thereafter the County
Commissioners shall appoint some suitable person to act as
Clerk of the Police Court for said county. That said Clerk of
the Police Court before entering upon his duties shall execute
a bond to State of Maryland in the penalty of five thousand dol-
lars ($5, 000); conditioned for the faithful performance of the
duties of his office and to pay over any and all money coming
into his hands as Clerk of said Police Court. That said Clerk
of the Police Court shall attend said Court every day, legal holi-
days and Sundays excepted, from the hours of 9 A. M. until 5
P. M., and said Clerk shall have charge of all of the records,
dockets and papers of said Court, and said Clerk shall have
the authority to administer oaths in all matters that appertain
to said Court, and said Clerk shall keep and transcribe the
records and dockets of said Court and shall issue all of the
write of said Court in the name of the Police Justice, and shall
have the power to accept such cash collateral and deposits of
sureties for the appearance of any defendant to appear before
the Police Justice for hearing or trial, and shall issue all
witness certificates and shall receive all fines, penalties and for-
feitures imposed or collected by virtue of any writ issued out
of said Police Court. That said Clerk of said Police Court
shall pay over to the County Commissioners of Montgom-
ery County all such fines, penalties or forfeitures so collected
by him monthly on the first Tuesday of each and every
month, together with a detailed and itemized report setting
forth the items so collected by him. That said Clerk of the
Police Court shall have the general authority to do any and
