of the provisions of this sub-title, shall be subject to a fine of
not exceeding $1, 000 or imprisonment in jail for a period of
not more than one year, or both such fine and imprisonment,
in the discretion of the Court.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That any provisions of
Sections 214 to 229 of Article 27 of the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws of Maryland, subject ''Crimes and Punishments, "
sub-title "Gaming, " inconsistent herewith or contrary hereto,
in so far as said sections are applicable to Montgomery County,
be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such incon-
sistency or conflict.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all Acts and parts
of Acts, laws and parts of laws, ordinances and parts of ordi-
nances, inconsistent herewith or contrary hereto, be and the
same are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That all criminal pro-
ceedings now pending or which may hereafter be instituted
for offenses already committed against any law or regulation
repealed by this Act, shall be instituted, proceeded with and
prosecuted to final determination and judgment as if this Act
had not been passed.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and being
passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all
the members elected to each of the two Houses of the General
Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its
passage.

CHAPTER 484.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 12-A
of Chapter 518, of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland, passed at the January Session, 1922, fixing the
salary of the Clerk of the Police Court for Montgomery
County and providing for the payment of the sum of one
thousand dollars to the State's Attorney of Montgomery
County for his attendance at the Police Court in said county
in addition to the salary already paid said State's Attorney
and providing that the Police Justice shall receive the sum
