outstanding, less the amount of bonds issued in connection
with the water supply system of the City of Annapolis and
the amounts held in the sinking funds for the redemption of
bonds of the City of Annapolis other than such water bonds,
shall not exceed five percent of the taxable basis of said City;
and bonds may be issued in addition thereto under the pro-
visions of this Act in an amount not exceeding a total of
three hundred thousand dollars for the purpose of improve-
ments to the water supply system of said City, such bonds be-
ing issued by authority of the Mayor, Counselor and Alder-
men of the City of Annapolis, but revenue for the purpose
of paying interest and principal of same to be derived from
the income received for such water supply; it being the in-
tention of this section as to the bonds authorized hereunder
that the total amount of water bonds outstanding at any time
after deducting the amount held in in any sinking funds for
their redemption shall not exceed the sum of three hundred
thousand dollars, and that the total amount of bonds of the
City of Annapolis, other than the water bonds, outstanding
at any time after deducting therefrom the amount held in sink-
ins funds for their redemption shall not exceed five per cent,
of the taxable basis of said City.

All bonds issued in pursuance and under the authority of
this Act shall be exempt from State, County and Municipal
taxation.

CHAPTER 393.

AN ACT to add four new sections to Article 2 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title, '' Anne Arundel County, '' sub-title,
"Annapolis, " to be known as Sections 65A. 65B. 65C and
65D, to follow immediately after Section 65 of said Article,
for the purpose of regulating the appointment and promo-
tion of members of the Police Force of Anne Arundel
County and providing a method of securing a pension fund
for the members of said force.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That four new sections be added to Article 2 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title, "Anne Arundel
County, " sub-title, "Annapolis. " to follow immediately after
Section 65 of said Article and to read as follows:
