first Saturday in August, 1924, for the purpose of ratifying or
rejecting this Charter. Should said Charter be adopted at the
said election then and in that event the above named persons
shall constitute a Board of Election Supervisors, provided for
in Section 6 of this Act and shall discharge the duties of said
Board as provided for by Section 6 and 7 of this Act, until such
time as their successors shall have been duly appointed and
qualified. It shall be the duty of said Franklin Smith, Raymond
Sammons and S. E. Johnson or their successors in office to de-
termine the qualifications and rights of each voter to participate
in the special election provided for in Section 15 of this Act by
asking each applicant who presents himself or herself to cast his
ballot at the election which they have been appointed to conduct
under oath the questions as prescribed in Section 7 of this Act.
Should the answers of the applicant be in the affirmative to such
questions, then it shall be the duty of the said Board of Election
Supervisors to allow such applicant to cast his or her ballot and
should the answer of the applicant be in the negative to either
of the above questions, then and in that event he or she shall not
be allowed to vote. Should the applicant answer either one of
the above provided questions falsely, he or she shall be guilty of
the crime of perjury and subject to the penalties provided by the
law of the State of Maryland.

CHAPTER 389.
AN ACT to incorporate the Town of Berwyn, in Prince George's
County, Maryland; to provide for the government thereof
and to provide for the submission of this question to the
qualified voters of said town for their adoption or rejection;
and to provide for the selection and succession of a commit-
tee to be named and known as the Berwyn Citizens' Commit-
tee, who shall have power to make and enforce rules and
regulations for the public health and safety; and to author-
ize, empower and direct the said Berwyn Citizens' Committee
to make special levies of Five (. 05) cents on each one hun-
dred ($100) dollars of the assessable value of the real and
personal property of the said Town of Berwyn; and for such
other additional levies as in this bill provided, for the pur-
pose of opening, widening, improving, maintaining and re-
paring roads, streets, alleys, lanes, sidewalks, parkings, drain-
age, lighting streets, roads, lanes alleys and for other public
