Esther Goodin
 Kent County fs The Jurors for the Right Honourable
the Lord Proprietary that now is for Kent County
afd upon their Oath doe psent that Esther Goodin
Late of Shrewsbury parish in the County afd Spinster the tenth day
of June Anno Dom Seventeen hundred and Eight at the parish afd
in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Comitt fornication
with a Certain person to the Jurors afd unknown and did pmit
the Same unknown person then and there to have carnall knowledge of
her Body and to beget then and there a Basterd Child on the body of
her the Same Esther to the high Displeasure of Almighty Good to
the good Example of all others in Such Case offending contrary to
the Peace of the said Lord prop.ry that now is his good Rule
and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in
that Case made and provided.                  T ffrancis Cler: pac.

    And the afd Esther Goodin in her proper person comes & Saith
that She Cannot gainsay the Indictm.t afd so as afd against them
brought ^nor but that she is guilty of the pmises above upon^ her imposed as by the afd Indictm.t it is Alleged and thereupon
Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Court
viz.t at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the
third tuesday in Nov.br same the Eighteenth day of Said Month
Anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and twenty Nine  That the afd
Esther Goodin Receive ten Lashes on her bare back tell y.e blood app.r According
to act of Assembly in Such Case made & provided for her Crime afd
and also pay the Sum of two hundred Seventy Six pounds of Tob.o Costs
Accruing on the pmises afd to the officers of this Court

    It is also Considered by the Court here to wit the day and year last
mentioned that the Sher of Kent County take the afd Esther into
his Costody and Execute the punnishment in the Judgment
afd Spesified and afterwards to bring her into Court again of
w.ch pcept y.e s.d sherr to wit Jo: Young Gent high Sher of K.t Co.ty makes
return on the day & year Last Said that he hath Executed y.e Judgm.t
afd and also hath here the said Goodin before the Court:

    Ordered by y.e Court her that Esther Goodin in prove y.e beget.r on
Acknowled.m She being Sworn Saith that a Certain Thomas
Yorkson is the begetter of y.e base born Child in the afd Indictm.t
