61 That the afd William Bevins Stands in the pillory half an hour and that afterwards he receive at the publick whipping post twenty one Lashes well laid on his bare back till the blood appears as a punishment for his afd Crime of Committing the felony afd according to the force form and effect of the verdict afd Also it is Considered that the Said William Bevins pay the Sume of four hundred and Eighty pounds of tobacco the Value of the four fold of the Goods afd there being valued at one hundred and twenty pounds of Tobacco And also the Sum of Nine hundred Sixty Nine pounds of tobacco Costs accruing on the premises afd to the officers of this Court Jam.s Smith Clk It is also Considered by the Court here at this day to wit the day & year last mentioned that the Sherf of Kent County take the afd William Bevins into his Custody and Execute the punishment in the Judgment afd Specified & afterwards to bring him into Court againe of which precept the said Sherf to wit John Gresham Gent high Sherf of Kent County makes return on the day and year last said that he hath Executed the Said Judgment and also hath here Ready the Said William Bevins before the Court Ordered by the Court here that Surety for the four fold and fees be paid On which came into Court a Certain William Elms of Said County Planter and Saith that he will pay the four fold afd Amounting to the Sum of four hundred and Eighty pounds of tobacco and also the afd Sum of Nine hundred Sixty Nine pounds of Tobacco the Costs afd The afd William Bevins the Second day of ffebruary Anno Dom. 1728/9 before M.r William Frisby one of the Justices of this Court Entered into Recog.c in y.e Sum of forty pounds Sterling money for his appearance at this Court to Answ.r unto what Should be objected against him &c.a on acc.t of Stealing a Sadle and bridle of a Certain W.m Carman &c.a The afd William in his proper person appeared and prayd his Recogniz.c might be discharged as after his Surety for his appearance It is ordered by the Court here that the s.d W.m Bevins Recog.c as afd be Disch.d The Sumons by this Court here disch.d Also William Elms of Said County Ent.rd into Recog.c for the appear.c of y.e afd William Bevins In y.e Sum of twenty pds Sterl whereas by this Court here disch.d Also at the Same time afd W.m Carman in the Sum of twenty pds Sterl as present.t before the same Justice ag.st the s.d W.m Bevins The s.d W.m Carman in his proper person appeared and prayd his Recog.c might be Disch.d It is Ordered by the Court here the Same be disch.d The s.d Recogniz.c be disch.d Also at the same time afd John Wilson in the sum of ten pds Sterl as an Evid.c ag.st the s.d W.m Bevins the s.d John in his proper person appeared and prayd his Recog.c be disch.d The Sumons by this Court here disch.d &c.a |
