the County afd with^in^ the jurisdiction of this Court one Saddle of the value of three hundred pounds of tobacco and one bridle of y.e value twenty pounds of tobacco of the goods and chattles of a certain William Carman then & there being found then & there feloniously did steal ^take^ & bear away contrary to the peace of the s.d Lord Proprietary that now is his Good rule and Government & against the form of the act of Assembly in Such case lately made and provided T francis Cler. pac. Test John Wilson Chr.r Bateman jun.r William Hill On back of the preceeding Indictm.t was endorsed as foll viz.t Billa Vera Henry Evans foreman And the afd William Bevins in his proper person cometh and Saith that he is not guilty in any Sort of the premises above upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereof he putteth himselfe upon the County W.m Bevins in p.a psona And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith he is guilty T francis Cler. pac. Thereupon Command was given to the Sherf of Kent County that he Immediately cause to come here twelve &c.a By whom &c.a who neither &c.a so Recognize &c.a Because as well &c.a of which said precept the Said Sherf to wit John Gresham Gent now here at this day to wit the Eighteenth day of March Anno Dom One Thousand Seven hundred and twenty Eight & makes return that he hath here ready twelve &c.a As by his precept he was Commanded And now here afterwards to wit the day and year Last mentioned Came againe the afd William Bevins in his proper person and the afd L.d prop.ry by his Attry afd and the Jurors of that Jury being Impannelled and called likewise came to wit James Moore Will.m Sinnocks Benjamin Jones Thomas Massey Charles Smith Sam.l Tevey Benjamin Griffiths William Dean Joshua Beck Nathaniel Kennard William Tidmarsh Philip Rickets who being duely Elected tryd and Sworn to Say the truth in the premises upon their Oath do Say Will.m Bevins is guilty of the felony whereof he Stands Indicted and by James Moore there foreman all So Say Therefore it is Considered by the Court here at the Court House in the Town of Chester in s.d County on the third tuesday in March being the Eighteenth day of said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Eight |
