belonging to the same parish made or cause to be made and without any
Licence from any Governour of this province of Maryland to join the
same Dick and Amy in Matrimony as afd obtained of given against
the form of the Act of Assembly in such case lately made and provided
&c.a  Wherefore the same attorney of the said Lord Proprietary for
the same Lord Proprietary prayeth the advice of the Court here in the
premisses and that due process of Law in this part against the afd
Richard Sewell may be made to answer unto the same Lord Proprietary
of and upon the premisses &c.a            T francis

    And now here at Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in
said County on the third tuesday in August being the twentieth day of said
Month Anno Dom. one thousand seven hundred and thirty four came
the afd Lord proprietary by Tench Francis his attorney and prays
that the afd Richard Sewell to the Information afd might answer
And the afd Richard Sewell in his proper person comes and defends the
force and injury when &c.a and saith that he cannot gainsay the
information afd so as afd against him exhibitted nor but that he
is guilty of Marrying the afd Negro Dick the proper slave of
Richard Bennett Esq.r and Amy Nabb of the same County and
parish spinster and Contrary to the Act of Assembly without
any publication according to the rubrick of the Church of England
and without any Licence from the Governour of this province
of Maryland And thereupon the same Richard Sewell submits
to the Court        Therefore it is Considered by the Justices
here to wit at Kent County at the Court house in the Town of Chester
in said County on the third tuesday in August being the twentieth
day of said Month Anno Dom. one thousand seven hundred and
thirty four that the afd Richard Sewell be find the sum
of five thousand pounds of Tobacco Debt according to Act of
Assembly in such case made and provided as a fine for
joyning the afd Negro Dick and Amy Nabb in Marriage
Contrary to the Act of Assembly thereof in such case made
in form afd confest and also pay the sum of two hundred
and ninety eight pounds of Tobacco costs accruing on the
premisses afd to the officers of this Court &c.a
