is who for the Same Lord proprietary in this part prosecuteth doth come
here into the County Court of the Same Lord proprietarie held for Kent County
afd to wit at Chester Town in the Same County the twentieth day of Aug.st
Anno Domini Seventeen hundred thirty and four before James Harris
Esq.r and his associates the Said Lord proprietary his Justices of the
Same County Court and for the same Lord proprietary doth give the Same
Justices here to understand and be informed that Benjamin Cleaver late
of S.t pauls parish in the County afd planter the first day of July Anno
Domini Seventeen hundred thirty & three at the parish afd in the County
afd within the Jurisdicion of this Court did Committ fornication with
Elizabeth Evans of the Same County Spinster and of her body
then and there had carnal knowledge and a bastard child on the
body of her the Same Elizabeth then and there did beget to the high
displeasure of Almighty God tot he evil Example of all others in Such
case offending contrary to the peace of the said Lord proprietary his
good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of
Assembly in Such made and provided &c.a  Wherefore the Same Attorney
of the Said Lord proprietary for the same Lord proprietary prayeth the
advice of the Court here in the premisses and that due process of Law in
this part against the afd Benjamin may be made to answer unto
the Same Lord proprietary of and upon the premisses &c.a    T francis

    And now here at Kent County at the Court house in the Town of Chester
in Said County on the third tuesday in August being the twentieth day of
Said Month Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty and
four Came his afd Lordship by his attorney afd and the Same Benjamin
in his proper person comes and defends the force and injury when &c.a And
Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Information afd So as afd against him
brought nor Can he say but that he is guilty of the premisses above
upon him Imposed as by the afd Information it is alledged and
thereupon Submits to the Court            Therefore it is Considered
by the Justices here to wit the same day and year last mentioned that the
afd Benjamin Cleaver be find the Sum of thirty Shillings Current money
as a fine for Committing the fornication afd in form afd Confest and
also pay the sum of four hundred Ninety Six    pounds of Tobacco
cost accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court

    Ordered by this Court that the fine afd be delivered the Sherrif of
