August Court 1734 day of March Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred thirty and three before James Harris Esq.r and his associates the Said Lord prop.ry His Justices of Kent County Court afd and and for the Same Lord proprietary doth give the Same Justices here to understand and be informed that Mary Gale late of upper South Sassafras Hundred in Shrewsbury parish in the County afd Spinster the nineteenth day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred thirty and three was possessed of a house in the Same hundred and County and within the Jurisdicion of this Court being and then and there was the chief person and Mistriss of the family in the Same house then residing and that William Simcox Cunstable of the Same Hundred duly authorized and qualified the same nineteenth day of June in the year afd did repair in person to the same house and did then there required of the said Mary Gale a true list from under her hand distinctly naming all the taxable persons which She then had within her Said family and altho the Same Mary Gale then and there did give unto the Same William Simcox a list and Account of Sundry taxable persons in her Said family then resideing Yet She the Same Mary the Laws of this province like weighing or regarding James Saunders a taxable person in her Said family then resideing in the same list did not write down or mention or cause to be written down or mentioned but the Same James Saunders to be a taxable person from the knowledge of the Said William Simcox then and there did conceal contrary to the form of the Act of Constables and what relates to them a ffine and pertaining what persons are taxables and against the peace of the said Lord proprietary his good rule and government &c.a Wherefore the same attorney of the said Lord proprietary for the Same Lord proprietary prayeth the advice of the Court here in the premisses and that due process of Law in this part against the afd Mary Gale may be made to answer unto the same Lord proprietary of and upon the premisses &c.a And at Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in June being the Eighteenth day of Said Month Anno Dom. one thousand Seven hundred and thirty four Came the afd Lord prop.ry by his att.ry afd And the Same by Mary Gale in her proper person and prays that the same cause may be Continued untill the third tuesday in AUgust then next ensueing which is granted as prayed Att which Said third tuesday in August being the twentieth day of Said Month Anno Dom. one Thousand Seven hundred and thirty four Came againe the afd the Lord Proprietary by his attorney afd And the same Mary Gale in her proper person and Saith that She Cannot gainsay the Information afd So as afd against her brought nor can She Say but that She is guilty as by the Information afd it is alledged and thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit the Same day and Year last mentioned That the afd Mary Gale being find the Sum of five hundred pounds of |
