477 on the back of the afd bill was endorsed as foll. viz.t True bill by me Rob.t Dunn foreman And now here at this Court to wit at Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in March being the nineteenth day of Said Month Anno Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty three Came the afd Lawrence Neale and in his proper person appeared And Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Indictm.t afd So as afd against him brought nor Can he Say but that he is guilty of the fornication above against him Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County The Same day and Year last Said That the afd Lawrence Neale be find the Sum of thirty Shillings Current money as fine for Commiting the offence of fornication afd in form afd Confest according to Act of Assembly in Such case made &c.a And also pay the Sum of four hundred and forty Nine pounds of Tobacco costs Accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court Ordered by this Court That John Gresham Gentl. Sherrif of Kent County keep the afd Lawrence Neale in Safe Custody untill the fees afd Shall be pay.d Ordered by this Court That John Gresham Gentl. Sherrif ^of Kent County^ keep the afd Lawrence Neale in Safe Custody untill he Shall give Security to keep the County harmless from any Charge that may accrue to the County by reason of the fornication afd by the afd bastard Child Thereupon Lawrence Neale of Kent County Planter here present in Court in his proper person cometh and acknowledges himself Indebted to the Right Hon.rble the Lord prop.ry of the province of Maryland in the Sum of five Thousand pounds of Merchantable Tobacco to be made and Leveyed on his body Goods and Chattles Lands and Tenements to the use of his Said Lordship his heirs and Successors Conditionally That if the afd Lawrence Neale Shall not keep the County Clear from all Charges that may become any ways chargable by means of the Child that was laid to him by a Certain Jane Flanagan wherewith he acknowledges himself Content Also Job Cove of Kent County Carpenter and James Breward of Kent County Planter present in Court in their proper persons came and Acknowledged themselves Indebted to The Right Hon.rble the Lord prop.ry of the province of Maryland in the Sum of Two Thousand five hundred pounds of Tobacco Each to be made and Leveyed on their bodies goods and Chattles Lands and Tenements to the use of his Said Lordship his heirs and Successors Conditionally that if the afd Lawrence Neale Shall keep the County harmless Clear and Indemnified from all Charges that may become any ways chargable by means |
