was ordered to be framed into an Indictment by M.r Tench Francis Clk of the
Indictments which was done according And The Grand Jury the Same a true
bill &c.a
                            Thereupon Command was given Immediately to the Sheriff
of Kent County That he Should take Thomas Kerson of S.t Pauls Parish in
the Coty afd Taylor if he should be found in his Bailiwick and him safe
keep So that he have his body before the Justices of our Said Court then
held at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on this twentieth
day of November then held to Answer unto a Certain Indictment of assault
on Miles Godment And that the Sherriff of the Same County was not to
faile at his perill and that he was to have at the Same Court the Same
writt &c.a    Att which Said Court to wit at Kent County at the Court house in the Town
of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in November being the Twentieth
day of Said Month Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty three
Came the afd John Gresham Gentl. Sherriff of Said County and made
return to the Court here thereof endorsed as foll. viz.t Cepi Corpus p

    Kent County fs  The Jurors for the Rt honble the L.d Prop.ry that was
for the body of Kent County afd upon their oath do present that Thomas
Kerson of S.t pauls Parish in the County afd Tailor the Eleventh day of
Nov.r Anno Dom. seventeen hundred and thirty three at the parish afd
in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon the
same Miles Godment in the peace of God and for y.e s.d L.d Propry
then & there being with force and Arms an Assault Did make and him
the said Miles then and there did beat wound and evilly treat so that of his
Life it was much Dispaired and other harms to him then and there did to the
Great damage of the said Miles & agst y.e peace of y.e said Lord propry y.t now is
his Good rule and Dignity &c.a        Tfrancis
Test Miles Godment Mary Mercer   On the back of the Indictment
was indorsed as follows Viz.t    A true Bill p Edw.d Worrell Foreman

    And now here at this Court to wit at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County
on the third tuesday in November being the twentieth day of Said Month Anno Dom. one
thousand Seven hundred and thirty three Came his Lordship by his attry afd &
prayed the afd Thomas might to the Indictm.t afd Answer and The afd Thomas
Kerson came And Sayth that he Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as
afd against him brought nor but that he is guilty of the premisses
above upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and
Thereupon Submits to the Court    Therefore it is Continued bill by the
