that Dennis Long late of Shrewsbury Parish in the County afd Labourer the
servant of Benjamin Palmer the fourteenth day of July Anno Dom.
Seventeen hundred thirty & three at the Parish afd in the County afd within
the Jurisdicion of this Court with force and Arms one pair of trousers of
the Value of Sixty pounds of Tobacco one bridle of the Value of thirty
pounds of tobacco and one Saddle of the Value of three hundred pounds
of Tobacco of the foods and Chattles of the Said Benjamin then and there
being found then & there feloniously did Steal take and bear away
against the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry his good rule and Government
and against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such case made &c.a

On the Same bill of Indictment was endorsed viz.t  A True bill p.r
Simon Wilmer foreman

    And The afd Dennis Long in his proper person cometh and Saith that
he is in no Sort guilty of the premisses above upon him Imposed as by
the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereof he puteth himself upon the Country

And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith he is guilty
                                                                                T francis p Ld p.ry

    And now here afterwards Came the afd Dennis Long in his proper person
SAith that not withstanding the averment afd he now Cometh and with
draweth his plea afd And Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Indictment
afd So as afd against him brought nor but that he is guilty of the premisses
above upon him imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged And thereupon
Submits to the Court  Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to
wit at Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on
the third tuesday in August being the Twenty first day of Said Month Anno
Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and forty pounds of Tobacco The four
fold of which Amounts to Nine hundred and forty pounds of Tobacco which
the afd Dennis Long is to Serve for at the Expiration of his Service and
also Stand in the Pillory one quarter of an hour and to have at the
publick whipping post ten Lashes well laid on his bare back tell the
blood appear according to the form force and effect of the Confession afd
and also That the Said Master pay the Sum of three hundred & thirty
pounds of Tobacco to the officers of this Court on the premisses afd and
that the Same Dennis Serve the Said master his heirs or assigns for
