1733 great Brittaine to be Leveyed on his Body goods and Chattles Lands and Tenements Conditionally that if a Certain Denis Long do not make his personall appearance before the Justices of Kent County Court the third tuesday of August next then and there to answer unto all Such Matters and things as Shall be objected against him the Said Denis being Suspected to have feloniously Stole or taken a White Gelding from a Certain Robert Speer of the afd County and Do not depart with out leave of the Court that then this Recognizance taken before me to be Void Otherwise to Stand and Remain in full force The afd Dennis ap.rs ordered the afd Recog.c be Disch.d Benj.a Palmer his Recog.c taken as afd is by this Co.rt disch.d no cause being shewn to y.e Contrary G Wilson Benjamin Palmer and Robert Speer Sworn to the Grand Jury ag.st the afd Dennis Long Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the Right hon.rble the Lord prop.ry that now is for Kent County afd upon their Oath do present that Dennis Long late of Shrewsbury Parish in Kent County afd Labourer the Servant of Benjamin Palmer the tenth day of July Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred thirty & three at the parish afd in the County af within the Jurisdicion of this Court with force and Arms one horse of a white Colour of the price of Nine hundred pounds of tobacco of the goods and Chattles of Robert Speer then and there being found then & there feloniously did Steal take and ride away contrary to the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such case made and provided T francis Cler. pac. Test Benjamin Palmer Robert Speer On the Same bill of Indictment was endorsed as foll. True Bill p Simon Wilmer foreman Thereupon the afd Dennis Long in his proper person cometh and Saith that he is in no Sort guilty of the premisses above upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereof he puteth himself upon the Country Dennis Long in p psona And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like manner Saith he is guilty T francis p Ld pro.ry Thereupon Command was given to the Sherrif of Kent County that he Immediately cause to come here twelve &c.a By whom &c.a who neither &c.a to Recognize &c.a because as well &c.a of which said precept the Said Sherrif to wit John Gresham Gentl. now here at this day to wit the twenty first day of August Anno Dom. One thousand Seven hundred and thirty three makes return that he hath here ready twelve &c.a As by his precept he was Commanded And now here afterwards to wit the day & year last mentioned Came again the afd |
