day of Said Month Anno Dom. one Thousand Seven hundred and thirty
three  Being the day of return of Said Writt Came John Gresham Gentl.
Sherrif of Said County and made return to the Court here thereof endorsed
as foll. Viz.t Cepi Corpus p Jn.o Gresham Sheriff

    Kent County fs  The Jurors for the Right Honourable the Lord prop.ry that
now is for Kent County afd upon their oath present that Sarah Lewis
late of S.t Pauls Parish in the County afd Spinster the tenth day of August
Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred thirty and two at the parish afd in the
County afd within the Jurisdicion of this Court did Commit fornication with
a Certain Person to the Jurors afd unknown and did permit the Same
unknown person then and there to have Carnal knowledge of her bdy
and to be beget then and there a bastard Child on the body of her the
Same Sarah to the high Displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil
Example of all others in Such Case of offending Contrary to the peace
of the Said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Governm.t
and against the form of the Act of the Act of Assembly in that Case made
and provided                                    T francis

    The Same Indictment was endorsed as foll. viz.t Billa Vera William Blackston
                                                                                                foreman

    At the third tuesday in June being the nineteenth day of Said Month Anno
Domini One Thousand Seven hundred The afd Indict thirty and three
the afd Indictment being found against the afd Sarah Lewis And at the
Same Court is Cont.d untill the third tuesday in August then next ensuing

    Att which Said third tuesday in August being the twenty first
day of Said Month Anno Dom. One thousand Seven hundred thirty and
three Came the afd Sarah Lewis in her proper person and Saith
that She cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against her
brought nor Can She Say but that She is guilty of the premisses
above upon her Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged And
thereupon Submits to the Court                Therefore it is Considered
by the Justices here to wit the Same day and year last mentioned
that the afd Sarah Lewis pay the sum of thirty Shillings Current
money as a fine to the use of the afd County for Comiting the fornication
afd in form afd Confest as also pay the Sum of two hundred
forty three                pounds of Tobacco Costs Accrueing on the
premisses afd to the officers of this Court

    Ordered to give Surety for fees accrueing on the premisses afd
Thereupon Samuel Gooding of Kent County planter present in
Court in his proper person do come and acknowledges himself
