Rachel Dowling
Command was given on the twenty fifth day of June
Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty three
to the Sherrif of Kent County that he take Rachel
Dowlin late of Shrewsbury Parish in the County afd
Spinster if She Should be found in his bailiwick and her Safe keep So that
he have her body before the Justices of our next County Court to be held
at our Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday
in August then next to Answer unto a Certain Indictment for Commiting
fornication with a Certain unknown person and did permit the Same unknown
person to have Carnal knowledge of her body and to begit then and there
a bastard Child &c.a  And that the Same Sherrif have at the Said Court the
Same Writ &c.a

    Att which Said third tuesday in August being the twenty first day of
Said Month Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty
three being the day of return of Said Writ Came John Gresham Gentl.
Sherrif of Said County and made return to the Court here thereof
endorsed as foll. viz.t Cepi Corpus p Jn.o Gresham Sherf

    Kent County fs.t  The Jurors for the Right Honourable the Lord prop.ry
that now is for Kent County afd upon their Oath do present that Rachel
Dowlin late of Shrewsbury Parish in the County afd Spinster the tenth
day of August Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred thirty & two at the parish
afd in the County afd within the Jurisdicion of this Court did Commit fornication
with a person then and there to have Carnal knowledge of her body and to
beget then and there a Bastard Child on the body of her the Same Rachel
to the high Displeasure of Almighty God to the evil Example of all others
in Such case offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord proprietary
that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of
Assembly in that Case made and provided                            T francis Cler. pac.

    Test Belthia Young Sarah Hamlin Thomas Rasin

    The Same Indictment was endorsed as foll. viz.t Billa Vera p Simon Wilmer
                                                                                                    foreman

    At the third tuesday in March being the twentieth day of Said Month Anno
Domini One Thousand Seven hundred thirty two The afd Indictment
was Continued untill the third tuesday in June then next Ensueing &c.a

    Att which said Third tuesday in June being the nineteenth day of Said
Month Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty three The afd
Lord prop.ry by his attorney afd and the Same Rachel Not appearing
the Same Ordered to be Continued untill the third tuesday in August
next Ensueing &c.a which was Cont.d as afd

    Att which Said third tuesday in August being the twenty first day of
Said Month Anno Domini Seventeen hundred and thirty three
