held at our Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in March then next ensuing to answer unto a Certain Indictment of an assault against James Kear &c.a And that the Same Sherrif have at the Said Court the Same Writ &c.a Att which Said Court to wit at Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in March being the twentieth day of Said Month Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty two being the day of return of Sd Writ Came John Gresham Gentl. Sherrif of Said County and made return of Said Writ to the Court here thereof endorsed as foll. viz.t Cepi Corpus p Jn.o Gresham Sherff Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the right honourable the Lord prop.ry that now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their Oath do present that Richard Gresham late of S.t Pauls Parish in the County afd Gent. the twenty third day of November Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred thirty & two at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdicion of this Court in and upon James Kear in the Peace of God and of the Said Lord prop.ry then and there did beat wound and evily treat So that of his life it was much despared and other harms to him then and there did to the great damage of the Said James and against the Peace of the Said Lord prop.ry his good rule and dignity T francis Cler. pac. Test Ja.s Kear On the Same was endorsed viz.t A true bill p James Moore foreman And the afd Richard Gresham in his proper person comes and Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against him brought nor but that he is guilty of the premisses above upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged And thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the Third tuesday in March being the twentieth day of Said Month Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred Thirty two That the afd Richard Gresham be find the Sume of Sixteen Shillings and eight pence Current money of Maryland for his offence for Committing an assault afd and According to his Confession afd and also pay the Sum of three hundred thirty Seven pounds of Tobacco fees accruing to the officers of this Court on the premisses afd &c.a Jam.s Smith Clk
