of S.t Pauls Parish in the County afd Widow if She Should be found in his bailywick and
her Safe keep So that he have her body before the Justices of then next County
Court to be held at our Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the
third tuesday in March ensueing to Answer unto a Certain Indictment of fornication
&c.a  And that the Said Sherrif have at the afd Court the Same writ &c.a

    Att which Said Court to wit at Kent County at the Court House in the Town of
Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in March being the twentieth day of Said
Month Anno Dom. One thousand Seven hundred and thirty two The day of return of Sd
Writt Came John Gresham Gentl. Sherrif of Said County and made return to the
Court here thereon endorsed as foll. viz.t Cepi Corpus p Jn.o Gresham Sherrif
Kent County fs.t  The Jurors for the right honourable the Lord prop.ry that now
is for Kent County afd upon their Oath do present that Martha Lewis late of S.t Pauls
Parish in the County afd Widow the tenth day of Aprill Anno Domini Seventeen
hundred thirty & two at the Parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdicion of
this Court did Commit fornication with a person to the Jurors afd unknown and did
permit the Same unknown person then and there to have Carnal knowledge of her
body and to beget then and there a bastard child on the body of her the Same Martha
to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the evil Example of all others in Such Case
offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry his good rule and Government
and against the form of the Act of Assembly in that case made and provided
Test James Moore                                                                            T francis Cler. pac.

    The Same Indictment was endorsed as foll.  A True Bill p James Moore foreman

    And the afd Martha Lewis in her proper person comes and Saith that She
cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against her brought nor but that She is
guilty of the premisses above upon her Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is
alledged and Thereupon Submits to the Court    Therefore it is Considered by
the Court here to wit at Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in
Said County on the third tuesday in March being the Twentieth day of Said Month Anno
Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and Thirty two  That the afd Martha Lewis
be find the Sum of Thirty Shillings Current money of the province Maryland
being for Committing the offence of fornication as afd and the Sum of two
hundred thirty Eight fees accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of
this Court                Ordered the Same fine be D.d the Sherrif of Kent County
